Emergency contraception

If you’ve had sex without using contraception or think your contraception might have failed – the condom slipped off or split ­ there are two emergency methods your partner can use:

If your partner can’t visit a GP or a Family Planning Clinic, then a GUM (genito-urinary medicine)/ sexual health clinic or hospital accident and emergency department may be able to help.

 Emergency Contraception is now  available to women over 16 years from chemists without the need for a prescription.
