Brothers and sisters

There are rivalries and jealousies in every family – and these are usually strongest between the children.

For example, one child may get a lot of attention because he’s sick and this can lead to the other child feeling less important.

This is just a temporary thing but occasionally parents do tend to single out one of their kids for special treatment. If we think this is the case we could tell our parents how it makes us feel – especially as parents often aren’t even aware they’re doing it.

If we think that our parents do have a favourite we shouldn’t take out our resentment on that brother or sister. Not only is it not their fault, they may feel as bad about it as we do. A word with your parents might sort things out.

Also bear in mind that these rivalries lessen with age.
